The symbol of the food hall “Paupio turgus” painting is its hands. They help find a connection and a common language between different cultures and experiences.
The idea of the mural reflects what we can consider to be the principal value of this district – a community with its own rhythm of life and identity.
Jurgis Tarabilda is a graduate of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. In 2017, his work was awarded the Audience Prize at the “Young painter prize” competition, and in 2020, he was named the best artist at “ArtVilnius’20”, a contemporary art fair.
Narratives appear in the artist’s work intuitively; he hopes that the drawings will provoke the viewers, raise questions, and create an individual narrative, which each person can evaluate according to their experiences.
